Room Tone
Room Tone is a spatial sound installation that transmitted each viewer’s acoustic presence in the room to subsequent visitors.
Upon entering the room, visitors hear the space’s room tone in the form of a layered soundscape containing echoes of previously present visitors. As they listen, their own audio presence is captured, adding a new layer to the evolving room tone. This acoustic palimpsest is then preserved for future visitors, creating a continually evolving auditory experience that connects past and present occupants of the space.
