YAN is a video prose that narrates along a meandering journey of quitting smoking. Its duration mirrors the general time spent smoking a cigarette. The video piece parallels the process of debating with addiction and the lingering memory of a disconnected friendship — a story that continued only in pixels.

Through a poetic approach to the connection between three visual grains associated with time and image: cigarette ash, film grain, and digital pixels, YAN explores the texture of authenticity and emotions of personal memory in the screen-based preservation, where part of our irretrievable selves reside.
